How we can help you wake up pain free?

Our skilled practitioners can provide you with a small dental splint to wear at night to prevent you grinding and clenching your teeth during sleep. There are two devices we can provide and these are known as the SCi and the SCi+. Both splints fit over your front teeth to prevent unwanted muscle clenching eliminating the tension that causes pain. Many of our patients see an improvement in just a few days.

While your cleaning regime at home is critical you need to pop in for a service now and then to make sure everything is in order. A regular visit to our dental hygienist team will ensure your daily routine is working properly and catch any potential issues before they turn into a problem.

The more often you come to the dentist when you are not in pain the less likely you will be to need to visit when you are.

Problems caused by teeth grinding and jaw clenching?

Migraines, chronic headaches, aching and tender muscles, sore jaw joints, regular morning headaches and teeth grinding all have one common source; a hyper-activity of the jaw muscles. External signs are teeth grinding or clenching, which generally occur during sleep, when they are not consciously controllable. Some patients may also grind or clench their teeth during the day e.g. in periods of increased stress or concentration.

Can the simple grinding and clenching of my teeth have severe consequences?

Yes! Grinding and clenching of your teeth involves some of the most powerful muscles in the human body. Whilst almost everybody grinds and or clenches their teeth every now and then, studies show that patient who do so chronically exert between 6 and 20 times more pressure due to their well-trained musculature.
